These questions are optional. My interest in dancing:
I enjoy English ceilidh dancing, plus the simpler French and Breton dances. I would like to learn more, but usually get sidetracked into playing the tunes instead!
My interest in playing music for dancing:
I play whistles in a ceilidh band for English dances – we use traditional and modern English, Scottish, Irish and Northumbrian tunes. I also play in a scratch band for a French dance once a month or so. I also enjoy learning and playing tunes from other traditions, especially Breton, Scandinavian, Playford, French Canadian, Basque, Galician, Eastern European, Latvian and klezmer, but my repertoire is more limited in these areas.
My interest in dances from different european countries and areas:
As above
My interest in finding out about traditional social dances around Europe:
As above
My interest in helping others learn some traditional social dances around Europe:
I can demonstrate a few ceilidh dances, but as a musician, I mainly enjoy helping people to dance by providing some good, danceable music.
